Trying to add a pic for the first time. Is this a roo comb in the making? Best guess is 12-14 weeks.

I would say...possibly...I couldn't get my phone to enlarge for me but it looks like a cockerel.... Ooooh these birds are frustrating!!!

CRAP! I bought 4 at an action. Thing 1, Thing 2, Thing 3 and Thing 4. Looks like Thing 1 is going to get a new name...FreeToAGoodHome 1! I really wanted this one to be a hen.

The way I see it you will need to get some more pullets and either rehome the extra Roos or create a batchelor pen.

Whaddaya know, the big black one started to crow this morning. Wish I could have a bachelor pen. Hmph. Thanks again, I think I'm going to have to rehome. So sad.

I wouldn't trust MY opinion if I were you lol...these little poofs are tricky! The pic was small and I couldn't see if he/ she had streamers or waddles...but if you have 4, and 1 acts different lol, its probably your gut being correct

I'm still practicing..if you find out for certain , repost so we can know if we got it right lol

So happy to see this thread! I have one Silkie that is now 11 weeks old. I have one Roo Silkie and one Hen Silkie that loves raising babies!! She is raising 7 little chicks that are two weeks old now. This Silkie is from her previous hatchlings and I am so wanting her to be a pullet. So much so, that I think I could be ignoring obvious signs. Thanks for any opinions!

I'm just guessing, somebody correct me if I'm wrong please.. Both cockerels.. I am so bad at this though, I'm just going by my gut ha-ha... The white one looks like he/she has a mullet, like a male, and the buff one looks like it might be getting streamers, but there aren't any waddles to see yet... How old are they? 12 weeks or so? I think I was lucky; my little poof too came out of the egg with waddles and streamers so I'm always looking for those first, and I could be totally wrong
