1. No, you do not have to be a member to enter.
2. I minor can enter birds in the Jr. division (they do not have to do showmanship).
3. I'm not sure if there is a set minimum age, however 6 months is about the right time.
4. I never trained my silkies to go in a cage. We just put them in and they were fine. Whether or not that is the case for most, I'm not sure.
5. Yes, the show program will tell you what testing you need to have done. Where I live, the state agriculture department comes out and tests. It is $2 per bird I believe. Some of the shows do testing there, but not all. I'm not sure what the charge is to have them tested at the show.
