Silkie thread!

Shipping is only about $55 for a bird! I just had 3 silkies shipped to me this week. Soooooo worth it to get what you are looking for!

I have a question for those of you that show Splash. I have what I 'think' is going to be a Splash cockerel (he is 4 months old, zero comb growth, but his crest is looking a bit spikey making me think boy) and he is perfect in coloring except right around his face, he has a bit of a reddish tint coming through. Does this mean I can't show him? We're going to start in the Spring when everyone has filled out and see where we're at. Is this a bad quality, or is it okay? What about for breeding? I can post a picture of him later-- but right now, I'm finishing cooking for Thanksgiving and we're leaving. When I get back, I can post a pic of his face. But just for grins... the reddish tint coming through.... Fine... or Bad? Thanks!

It's okay if this is bad-- just let me know!!

I spent a lot of time hunting down nice silkies to start with. If someone has a rooster they don't want, it's going to be a pet quality-- not a show or breeding quality. (which means you won't want to breed or show him) And even then, you'll still pay for shipping. If you are wanting a nice breeding or show quality roo, you're going to be paying for it. You get what you pay for.

If you just want silkies and don't care what they look like, you can order them at a hatchery. I have a couple of very sweet silkies from Ideal. They are fluffy and very cute! But I'd never ever breed them, and of course, they could never be shown. They're just super sweet pets is all.

It would be a rare find to get a good quality silkie for free. Look in BSA for silkies for sale, if you want good quality birds.Pet quality and defective culls is what you will get for free.

Here is the Andalusion Blue code, print it out and keep it handy:

Splash x Splash = 100% Splash

Blue x Blue = 50% blue, 25% black, and 25% Splash

Blue x Splash = 50% blue and 50% Splash

Splash x Black = 100% Blue

Blue x Black = 50% blue and 50% black

Black x Black = 100% Black
