I dunno but he seems to be the twin brother of my roo... black with pale gold hackles, lost all of his feathers around 2 years old...
How about the bald-throated lion silkie?

sounds good to me, but i don't think he could enter a show under that name

ugggh! Coccidiosis is nasty stuff!we got our first chickens from hoovers hatchery-30 chicks and they got coccidiosis, *note* we were uneducated at the time of that disease so we just watched them die trying to save them. when we finally treated them we had 5 left!

thats my second guess have them treated for cocci!

I htink you have to be a member of the American Silkie Bantam Club and signed into its forum to see the photos--Sundown, he's a lovely bright and clear buff with a nice dark comb! You have a right to be proud of him

Sundown, what's your winter set-up like? Like, are your adult birds out all day? How are they faring in this winter weather? I see you have snow on the ground. We haven't dealt with that yet. That cockerel's a looker by the way.

Yes, all of the birds are out the whole day. I let them out around 8am. Then they go in when it gets dark, around 4:45pm. The youngest birds I have are around 3 months old. None of the coops have heat lamps. They all do have normal low wattage bulbs for light, otherwise they don't want to go in at night. The only time I don't let them out is if its sleeting. At night they are in their coops which are draft free. They are fairing well. No problems so far. We only got about 2 inches of snow. Its almost all gone now. No snow/ice in the coops. I do add some whole corn to their food. I belive its a hot food and creates heat as its digested.

We also aren't adding any artificial heat. This is our first winter with the Silkies, so I wanted to see how a NYer was managing their flock. Do they ever get dirty at all, even when it's wet out? Also, do you provide special water dishes? It's been a struggle to find a method of watering them safely, as our usual set-up has been screwed up by the cold and water freezing.
