What a beauty! Wish I could find some black/chocolate silky eggs. Everyone seems to only have mixed.

I have a really nice black hen. She's NFS, BUT-- when I was looking to buy, they did have buyer feedback at the time when we had the old boards with the auction site. I haven't checked out our new sell page yet-- don't know if any of that info transferred over. But even if it didn't, when I was buying, I asked around and when I found someone I was interested in, then I searched there name here in the BYC forums, and tried to find as much as I could on their birds and what people were saying and how they liked them. I ended up ruling out a few people just by doing my own looking around. Even with that, there are a number of fantastic sellers here that have GREAT birds! You'll have to take Scared Of Shadow's recommendations for the Black. When I was hunting, most people keep a BBS pen (Black, Blue, Splash) and then they get any combination of chicks from their eggs. If you're wanting ONLY black and accept BBS eggs-- you might wind up with black, but never know. I particularly LOVE splash-- it's pretty much my favorite color. I have a really pretty cockerel in Splash and a hen-- but she has a DQ of gold coming out around her neck. It's not terrible, but it's there. Just for grins, I'm going to breed her and see what her babies look like. If they continue to leak, I won't use her again. If you really want black, you may have to settle for chicks or a young adult unless you know they are coming from a solid black pen. Just start a "black silkie" search on BYC.
