I love this, I thought chickens didn't like water, but then Silkies aren't just any kind of chicken are they.

This is Yoda. She decided she was going to go broody a few days ago. However, I've had to take her eggs away from her, because when she gets up, she doesn't get back into her box-- she sits on the outside of it. Once the eggs are nice and cold, then she will switch and get back into the box.![]()

Awwww. She's so cute. Is this her first broody time?
Aww, sorry to hear. My non-silkies have been going broody like crazy, and a friend asked for some chicks, so I let them sit. And they keep playing "musical nests" and switching nests! I've never had so much trouble with broody girls ever!
My daughters silkies were actually transporting eggs from one nest to the other. Someone on this site said they can carry them by tucking them under their chin. I was just amazed!![]()
If she is still laying, that is probably what's going on. She's not quite ready to commit. Wait till she's stops laying and try her again. I just got 2 doz. wonderful silkie eggs in the mail today. I'm so excited because none had loose air cells! I added those and 6 of my own to the incubator to see if my roo is getting it done yet. These guys are a real trial, huh?Yes, it is her first time being broody! I sure hope she gets the hang of it. I'd let her have some eggs if she would not decide to get out and then sit on the shavings right beside her eggs outside of her nest!!?! ha! Do you think she might get better?? She's done that today, too. She laid another egg today and then when she got up, it's like she forgot where it was and sat on nothing.
ChickensX0X0-- really, what is up with our ladies!? That is crazy they are switching around like that. Enough to drive you crazy! LOL
And my poor, poor cockerel is still jumping on backwards. Sigh. I'm hoping that, when I've not been watching, that he's been on the right way and I have fertile eggs here. I've thrown them all in the incubator to try again!
