Silkie thread!

My Partridge girl Topaz....still not sure if she is a blue partridge or a regular oneAnd my sweet Misumi, the little crossbeak pullet. It is such a shame, since I think she is gorgeous otherwise. Both of them had wet muddy feet and leg feathers in these pictures...we had quite a storm last night >.<
Beautiful blue partridge. What a shame your pretty back girl has cross beak.

shame on you ;-)
I know! I am ashamed!! Especially since it was you that asked the question! Senior moment.

Your chick is gorgeous! You should be seeing some shading in the wing feathers for splash. I have one I thought was white. It was three weeks before any spots showed up.
Thank you! Just saw this reply. So, I have seen some shading in the wing feathers. There is a bit of darker blue throughout them. I keep hoping, splash. :) I will keep posting pictures every now and again, to see what you all think in coloring, then of course..sex..It's a girl..has to be! :)

Math was NEVER my strong suit. Being obsessed with chicken colour genetics is, perhaps, helping but math still isn't my thing.

Is it possible to be Bl/Bl and Lav/Lav? Conceivably, you could take two E/E Bl/Bl Lav/lav's and end up with Bl/Bl Lav/Lav? What would that look like? Probably just like regular splash? Or would that then be a self-blue base with splashes ????

On the Sultans....IME, they can be sexed fairly early by their crests. Girls will have a neat crest that looks like she carefully combs it every morning. Boys crests will be unruly, sticking out any which way - looks like just got out of bed and didn't bother to comb their hair at all.
I'll have to take some pictures soon, then and post them so you can let me know what you think.

I'm following along with yalls color genetics discussion. It's a little confusing since I know color genetics in horses, but similar. I must ask, what in the world is 'self-blue'?

hah I have a super fat easter egger hen who will fly over the layers six foot fence. I have plenty of smaller bantams that easily get over 3 or 4 ft fences, and can hop/fly to get up onto of my sheds.

Silkies typically have trouble jumping more than 2 feet at any age. I do not recommend cutting silkie wings.
That is too funny! My babies (LF) are flying all over, but my big girls rarely fly anymore. Every now and then they'll get freaked out over something and they'll crazily take off. I've got 2 really large BO hens that I haven't seen try flying in a while, lol. The flock mistress is HUGE!
