It looks/sounds like the parent birds are partridge and splash (Bl/Bl). Would be VERY unlikely (i.e. impossible?) to get self-blue (lav/lav) out of that combination.

It looks a lot like my lavender chick at that age. Beautiful chick!!I didn't think so either. The "mom" is so dark, I figured some of it would come through in the chicks, but all look basically just like this one. I wanted to purchase a self blue though, so that would still be cool!![]()
Yes, you're catching on to silkie math!I am a newbie to loving silkies.Started with 4 in a hatchery order, got 2 more while I was waiting for the order, got my order with one extra, and just added three more. The urge is there to add some more. So I would say 4 are not enough. Since they are bantam size you can double to equal one LF.
Your chick is gorgeous! You should be seeing some shading in the wing feathers for splash. I have one I thought was white. It was three weeks before any spots showed up.Picture overload...couldn't help myself once I started taking pictures! This little one is sooo sweet. Getting bigger!
Ahh, the sun is setting here.
Here's what's funny, this little one love the Exchequer's. Will be funny to see it running around with leghorns. I do have some hatching, hoping to get them together. The Exchequers will be leaving this coop before the Silkie. I am still thinking..blue splash..right?
Really pretty color! I'm thinging very light buff. Probably a girl.I have to she off my new Silkie that i got today at swap. Very pleased, it came from a 1st generation paint breeding maybe second, if i could remember their BYC name i would like to thank them personally for giving me such a beauty.
What color would you call this one I know its way early but any sex guesses just for fun! I believe they said it is 3 months or nearing it.

I'll give this a try and someone will correct me if I'm wrong. I may miss one but I'm sure of these. Black, white, partridge, buff, blue, splash & self-blue.What are in the US Silkies recognized coloration for the exhibition shows ?
