Silkie thread!

So pretty...and, I want one of those moveable pens. That would be so great. I have been thinking, what would be best for my Silkies when I want to let them out on the lawn..hmmm, this would be great. Probably can find the panels at any Lowes....we have Lowes here.
Go to petsmart or petco....you will have better luck for an x-pen. I have one that I use for my chihuahua. Panels are about 4' high and has a gate. It can be staked down as well, and since silkies don't really fly, it works great. If you need more room, get two.

i was wondering the horns/spikes on a silkie comb are they a DQ to the show standerd my standerd of perfection says disqualifaction cushion comb breeds spike or spikes is a DQ but i have heard its just a defect

I just ordered two Midwest x-pens from Amazon with no shipping 30" high which is plenty high for the Silkies The ones I have for my dogs are 48" high. They are great and you can fold them up and put away when not using them. I have one set up in one of my Silkie pens separating two different aged chicks.

Thank you for this. We went looking at IFA and Cal Ranch, didn't see what I wanted. Will check the pet stores for sure.

Ok ... so I tried the $3 heavy duty stuff from the grocery store. Elliot was NOT impressed. He could see but I'm not convinced he liked seeing.

Anything that moved spooked him. Poor guy. Sight is going to take some getting used to .... (not to mention the "perfume" in the stuff. He gained one sense and lost another

He has such pretty dark, dark brown eyes. I enjoyed seeing those!

You should post a photo!!

I got my pink X-pen off of ebay at a discount! I think I paid $26.00 for it, including the shipping?? Then I lined it with some plastic 1/2 x 1/2 inch netting on the inside so the chicks can't get through and so big ones can't stick their heads in and peck a little one. The plastic netting I got at Wal-Mart, for like $3.00/50 ft roll? If I could change one thing here, and will with the next X-pen I buy, it will be taller. This one is only 24" high, and the Silkies can jump when they want to!! A 48" pen is too heavy for me to lug in and out any more, so 36" tall should do the trick well.

I'm hatching right now, and so far have 2 Blacks?, 1 Blue, 1 what looks to be a White (still wet), and a pip in one of my White Showgirl eggs!!!!

I have little bitty rubber bands, smaller than your pinky size.
I have a Silkie/ bantam Cochin cross that is too pretty to cut her pouff, but I can see her feathers are getting ragged from her ripping it out.
If you did that to a Silkie, there wouldn't be anything left up there....
