Silkie thread!

My silkie hen, Friend, was attacked by a dog yesterday. She died in the middle of the night. She was a splash silkie. Going to miss her - she was sweet and docile little girl.

I am new to the board and I have a new-found Silkie addiction. Love seeing all of the lovely Silkies and reading the stories of them. I currently have 7 Silkies and am planning on getting some eggs to hatch out. My whole family loves them even my husband who likes chickens but has never been particularly interested in them.
here are a few of my new friends. I love many of the colors but only have Buff, Blue and Partridge right now....

Thanks for the welcomes and the nice comments. I am glad to be here and love my chickies! I am learning ALOT! I knew absolutely nothing about Silkies when I came on here. Now my eyeballs are ready to fall out

And while I'm at it, it's interesting that their feathering and vulture hocks aren't as wild as what we've got. Did you cut them?

No, I haven't done anything to them.

Did you get any girls? I'm pretty sure both of mine are boys.

I'm not sure. I haven't really paid them much attention. Awhile back I was thinking a boy and girl.
However, I'm pretty sure I'm going to sale them both.

Her eye is a little stretched open, but she'll have it out in a little while. You get the idea.
This is hysterical!!! LOVE this picture!! :)

Welcome!! I love the picture the most! What a fabulous picture you got of them!

My husband buried Friend this morning after we found her dead in the kennel. We are both sad about her loss. Neither of us had ever had Silkies and just recently got the trio and pretty much instantly fell in love with them. They have such personalities.....fun little chickens. About mid-morning I decided to go to the feed store to get more scratch and pellets since we were low. When I got there I heard cheeping.....oh boy!! They had Silver laced Wyandottes....I got 4. Now I'm on the watch for more silkies....Hubby and I decided we'd like more silkies....I just love the way they hop instead of running like my other hens run. We are on the search!!!
