Silkie thread!

Well guys, the obsession continues! I picked up 14 Silkie eggs today, 6 white, 5 porcelain and 3 b/b/s! Is anyone one else setting eggs today? I want a hatching buddy!!!
I got eggs Wednesday and placed them under my hens. Day and a half/two day difference isn't much, right?

I sell most of my babies which more than pays for my chicken expenses and DH likes that. :)
That's what I'd like to do some day. Right now we only have a few and they're just pets, so it's no big deal. But next year, I'd like to take some and show. At least try.

If you don't mind me asking, how small/big of a chicken operation do you have in order for them to pay for theirselves? How often do you have chicks?

So they weren't shipped? That's great!!!

No, they weren't shipped. I'm fortunate enough to live close to an excellent breeder. Plus, I'm way too cheap to take a chance on shipped eggs! They rode about 45 minutes in the car, so I figured them resting while the bator is warming would be good enough. Should I let them sit a little longer?

Thanks :) im trying to figure out the one i thought was white has a little taupe light blue brown speckles on its back... So im ruling out white.... But no clue :/

Isabel chicks don't all look a like but here's a photo of one of mine.

Thats what the 2 that i thought were buffs look like :)

Gonna try to take more pictures of the one i thought was white to see if i can get the little speckles to show up.

I have a couple of dozen silkies. I'm hatching everything from two hens when they aren't broody. I have mostly juveniles. I also have 3 PQ broodies. I have BBS and working toward a pen of lavender and a pen of porcelain. I still only have the one partridge girl. :( I think I might have some fun and breed her to my beautiful porcelain cockerel. (He's not mature yet) If anyone thinks that's a terrible mistake, please let me know! I know I'm mixing a bunch of genes there.
