Silkie thread!

Pretty sure Mysty is a pullet, and that BB and Cleon are cockerels. Not 100%, though. Powder Puff is definitely worth keeping; a single comb is easily bred out, and his type looks very nice!

Do check the tail though; make sure it is not crooked. Photo makes it appear that it might be, but it could just be the photo angle. That is NOT something you want to have to deal with.

Important info on the single comb!! So great to have your input!! Please tell us how you are able to determine type on Powder Puff from that kind of photo? Is it balance?

Exactly: balance between crest, tail and body size. The back could/should be shorter, but the bird is young, and sometimes a young back looks longer than it does at maturity. Also, everything looks very fluffy, body looks to be getting wide.
Yes, Powder Puff has the nicest, fullest crest & a nice big cushiony tail. The breeder I got the eggs from said the same thing about the comb if everything else is exceptional about a bird. (And, Powder Puff does look good.) I catch both Cleo and Powder Puff often standing with correct type. (Obviously not in the picture while bending over.) BB sometimes stands more correctly but Mysty Blue likes to plop down in a ball..........I think she's going to make a nice broody momma at least! I should have named her 'Eve'....the mother of many silkies!

I can see streamers forming on Cleon (who is 4 months old) but not on BB who is older. Should the streamers be coming in by 6 months old? If not, is there anything else to indicate a male...besides crowing?

Mysty Blue is going to have plenty of boyfriends to choose from

I was just looking through my old photos and came across this one of my rooster Steve.. I miss when he had this many feathers. Jagger (barred rock cock) did a real # on him!

How is his foot feathering? I think it's quite nice :) I think he needs a bath right now lol.

That depends on where you live. Every state has different rules. Most western states have no testing requirements. I think Oregon may be an exception (it's either Oregon or Washington, and I never can remember which, and I am not certain what the specific requirements are). In a lot of western states getting NPIP tested is very difficult to impossible.

Oregon does require NPIP and if your birds have never been tested before then they do provide testing after the show on site which I will be doing...... I will be making an apt to get NPIP certified soon for my whole flock! YA I am just waiting to get a few more thing in order before I do....

And the porcelain I am pretty sure is a pullet. There is no comb at all on it its still completely flat and there are no little waddle buds developing..... I suppose it could be a late bloomer but idk.... Wait and see I guess. It does have some more filling in to do but I wasn't sure since it will be a pullet class if that is taken into consideration or not. It look better in person than in the photos with my crappy skills and angles.... : ) I have another one I will post later to see what you think, she has some more filling in to do but she is really streamline with great posture and pose. She has a really good crest and is only 5 months old......

Thanks for the advice

I'm so excited! My little partridge, Cassidy, started laying this week! My very first silkie eggs! I'm going to throw them in the 'bator on Saturday since I already have some guinea eggs in there...they will be ready for lockdown at the same time. If they are fertilized they may be pretty funky chickens since the roos that Cassidy is in with right now are a blue silkie and a white showgirl...hmmmm.....

Time for her to head over to the newly established Partridge Palace!
