MY FIRST SILKIE EGG IS HATCHING!!!!

I found 2 Silkie eggs about 30 mins apart, in the same place. Which do you think is more likely...
A. My silkie laid an egg late last night under cover of darkness and I missed it while checking both last night and this morning
B. I have a first time layer (4.5 months old)
C. She laid two eggs in one day

Im thinking A but I wish B or C were true.. Especially B. I need to know if I have boys or girls.

Had to laugh at myself earlier. My big chicks were feathering in but the Silkie chicks didn't look much different. So I caught one to make sure they weren't developing abnormally slowly, which was all I could think of. Well, when your normal feathers look like so much down...

Oh, well... They are adorable and thankfully much easier to catch than my mixes. Good grief are those chicks flighty.

Streamers are the longer feathers that 'stream' off the head and hackle area of silkie roosters. Some roosters have a slicked-back look to their crest and most of their head feathers look like streamers. My splashes have nice round crests and then have the streamers coming in sort of from the top center down the neck area.....kind of like a crazy mohawk of contrasting dark feathers. Other silkies have different color variations. Here are some pictures of my two young cockerels (while they were in rooster prison this morning so they wouldn't alarm any neighbors.)

Thank you!, that really helped me to know what people are talking about. My black silky that has been identified as a boy has bluish green tipped feathers in his tail and wings. Is that typical of black silkies or could he be a blue/black? I'll have to take a closer look at him to see if I see the streamers tomorrow.

Thw Rookie, I think you have two pullets and one roo (#2) . It would be better tho if you had pics of them facing the camera so we could see any comb on them. It's hard to see blacks with black beaks and dark combs.

On a pure black silkie, a beetle green sheen is desirable. I'm hoping our little black Roos develop the beetle green coloring also.

Yea!!! He's got something desirable about him, besides I think he is the cat's meow, tee hee. He will probably be my only Roo. I need to research what color silkies I can get breeding him with my whites, partridge D'Uccle, and sizzle partridge hens. It will be exciting. Thanks for your info. :)
