Silkie thread!

Wow, Roger looks great!

Lot's of shake-up in my world. One of my more pressing projects is rehoming all the kids. I have calls to make because I need the 3 boys gone asap (2 sultans and 1 partridge) even though they are terribly sweet. The girls I'm going to hang onto until the very last minute- we're moving across country and it's just not going to work to take them. Totally bums me out. :( I've got 23 total right now, although only 4 silkies out of that group. We're keeping the girls until the last possible moment, but at some point, you kind of have to cater to the people taking them. I hope no one gets eaten...............

I am incubating silkies for the first time right now. They are due to go into lockdown on Tuesday.

On another thread, there was a post stating silkies hatch early. Is this true?

Should I put them in lockdown a day or two earlier?
The little experience I have with hatching eggs, they've always hatched on day 21.
Good luck and send us pictures!

Anyone have any tips on keeping silkie roosters together as they get older ? Mine are around 3 months old and get along so far but are starting to be pushy toward each other and the pullets. I'm hoping to eventually find them good homes but cant decide who I want to keep yet LOL. Thanks for any replies
The ones I've had have always gotten along just great. But the boys also grew up togehter. I would imagine that makes a slight difference. Then again, when I moved to the farm I am living on now, I brought my rooster and put him in the farms rooster & all hens. The little guy attacked my rooster (twice the size, go figure) once, haven't had a problem since. My guess is, as long as they have plenty of space and girls, they should be ok if they're nice individuals.

When they're not transforming into terrifying limbless and faceless masses, they're actually kind of cute
