When they're not transforming into terrifying limbless and faceless masses, they're actually kind of cute

Thanks so much! I really appreciate it. And thanks everyone for the judging. It seems that the partridge and splash are the better looking of the bunch over the whites. I am only wanting to start out working with one or two colors. I have, I think, four female whites and a buff. I need to get these judged next but anyway if it was you would you work in the colored ones since they are so much better or stick to the white since I have the birds. If I were to work with the colored ones which colors can I or I guess should I put with each. I know the same colors will work but could I put a different color with them? The genetics KILL me. I am really going to have to do a lot more research. I just can't seem to grasp all the combinations.

I was also wondering if his comb is too red?

Partridge breed only to partridge
the splash boy you can put with splash, blue, or black for a BBS pen.

I'd also keep the best white boy and try and see what you get since you have 4 girls, and just try and find a better white boy in the meantime.

I posted this elsewhere on the site but didn't get a response so I'm trying here:

I just adopted 2 3 month old silkies. The original owner told me that there was a male and a female. Based on their antics alone, I'd say she's probably right, but when I asked her how she was able to tell her answer was completely new to me.

She told me that if you pull out the male's wing and look at the end of the wing bone there will be an extra "piece" that sticks out. It's got feathers on it and looks comparable to a thumb or extra tiny stiff bunch of feathers. She showed me the pullet and it does not have that. I thought it was interesting to say the least and after I brought the cute guy and gal home I sat down to investigate. But I can't find this information anywhere! Has anyone ever heard of this?
