I am incubating silkies for the first time right now. They are due to go into lockdown on Tuesday.

On another thread, there was a post stating silkies hatch early. Is this true?

Should I put them in lockdown a day or two earlier?

His tail is finally starting to come back after the coon ripped it of on Masacre night... BUT... Yeah... Healed up amazingly well.

I am so glad to see Roger donig so well. We have a lot of hawks here and I am trying to get my run finished and secure....

The Tapatalk app is the key...it's the only tool I have found so far that works for viewing forums and uploading pics. I'm using an iPhone, but there may be a version for the Droid. I love it...makes reading BYC on the phone so much easier.

I have a Droid X, and it took me FOREVER to figure out how to post pictures from it. The way I do it, is I open a new window in my browser (so I have 2 open windows). One stays open to BYC and on the other I open my Photobucket account. Then I simply copy the image code and past it onto my BYC post and the picture shows up. I can't post pictures from my phone if I don't upload the pics to my Photobucket first. Good luck!

Anyone have any tips on keeping silkie roosters together as they get older ? Mine are around 3 months old and get along so far but are starting to be pushy toward each other and the pullets. I'm hoping to eventually find them good homes but cant decide who I want to keep yet LOL. Thanks for any replies

Wow, Roger is lucky to be alive !!! I have had 3 close calls with hawks in the past week. Both the coopers kind and red tail. Glad Roger is okay.

Roger and Mark lived together in their own pen with no girls for the longest time. As long as the pullets were not near them, they didn't have any issues. Mark has gone to a new home last year, and Roger is my only silkie. BUT, there is his son Rod Stewart. They are fine, in the same coop with all the girls. OH, wait... I have 20 odd girls. Yes, Roger will chase Rod around on occassion, even though rod is bigger, being half something else... Faverolle I am thinking. Anyway, once they figure out who is the bigger butt head of the two, they should actually be ok, especially if you have enough girls...
