I had one zip at the bottom about two weeks ago. Just zipped right around with no problem! So much for the all important air cell!Lovely silkies...Ellie looks like she was about to be blown away...lol
I hope everything goes ok...I too was hatching some catdances a while ago and during a snow storm the power went out for almost 5 hours...and they all still hatched...
I have some black and splash eggs hatching from Bobbi Porto...not due till Thursday but came home to one chick and three more pips...I was worried that one was pipped at the small end but it is zipping right now so it is doing fine...
How can that be? I thought they had to hatch at the top or large end otherwise they were doomed? Anyway it is nearly zipped so looking good...
Have you checked for streamers?I have two silkies that are 22 weeks old and neither has started crowing or laying. If they were roos would they have already started to crow??
Awfull to find her in the rain like that, poor baby. How is she doing now?Poor Sophie, She got attacked by one of my LF while free ranging. I found her laying under the rain with a big hole on her head. She seemed petrified! I brought her inside, disinfected the wound with some iodine and later some blue kote. I put her in a plastic bin for a few hours inside the house and tried to put her back to her coop with the other silkies. She wouldn't move, tucking her head on the side, so I just brought her back inside where it's warmer. I will try tomorrow to put her back it.

I love how he has a polish body and the silkie fluff on his head and feet. lol His coloring actually looks a lot like one of the polish mix cockerels we had early in the year.
Now that's PRICELESS!
here's a link you may find helpful: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/393347/preparing-for-a-show-months-in-advanceI have a show preparation question!
How do you guys prepare your birds for shows? Handling wise? Just handle them a lot in general and get used to being handled?
My 4,5 month old chicks aren't too happy about being picked up. Especially my splash cockerel who I'd like to take to some shows next year. I haven't done a whole lot with them. I can't imagine it would be a good thing if he started having a meltdown when the judge is looking at him?![]()
