Not sure how to do this. I know there is a way to "approve" fans...but I haven't been able to figure that out yet.
Don't quote me on this but I don't think you have to approve anyone if you are not set to private. I have mine set on private to avoid the over load of non Silkie people. That isn't quite right, the over load of people whom I do not know or have some association with, like Silkies.
Basically you have to click on joining my page, I get this thing up that says you would like to "friend" me. I recognize PamB but I probably wouldn't recognize your face book name so I would look at your profile. Unless something is there that says something about Silkies I ignore the request. Well, I have approved my family members. That would be pretty bad if I told them no.
I spend very little time on Facebook so it just makes sense to keep it where I can follow what interests me.
Ditto
I originally got onto facebook to keep up with family and a very few close friends. Added a number of silkie folks after Shawnee, and I do enjoy seeing some of what is going on, but there is really too much, and by and large I am not adding any new "friends" (except, as you say, family). So if I don't answer a friend request, or if I deny one, it is not at all personal. just trying to control the volume of stuff that I see. In general, I do not like social networking. I much prefer forums as you can select which discussions to participate in based upon topic.

When I first got into FB it was just because others I knew where there, but now I use it mainly for games. Most of my "friends" I have no idea who they are. There are some from BYC and family and real friends but the rest are just for gaming. I do post most of my pictures of my flock on there. It's alot easier than trying to post them here. I have dial-up and it's slow trying to load imageshack then really slow uploading a picture then I have to wait for the page to load where I can copy the code to put it on here. I can take a pic from my phone and send it to FB. Alot easier. I also have mine set as private. Nobody can search me and find me. The only way I get friend requests are thru my current long long list of friends. It depends on if they appear to be somebody that uses roosters or dogs for unacceptable purposes. Other wise they usually get accepted. All BYC'ers are always accepted.
So my first hatch has begun very slowly. #2 just hatched and guess what came out of my silkie eggs?? It doesn't have any feathers on it's neck at all.... Showgirl? Wasn't expecting that!

Mine are being stubborn too what's your anticipated hatch day? 10 of mine were on day 21 yesterday afternoon. Two are out and nothing from the others so far. These are the eggs I tried to nuke that I told you all about so I'm amazed anything is hatching lol

Maybe they "friended" you because they felt they could learn a lot from you. I know I friended someone for that reason plus I was going to try and get to know the Arizona chick bunch because I am new here and know I need to know more about raising chickens in this climate.

If only that were true, Mandy. But many of them are just trying to look hot by having a kazillion friends that they don't know and will probably never converse with. For those of us that do not spend time there its just so much easier to keep up with what all is going on in the Silkie world by limiting access. Its easy enough to get accepted on private FB pages with the mention of Silkies or better yet pics that you've put up on your page.
