Silkie thread!

Im in Nh we got a ton of snow too. Hubby is shoveling me a path as we speak so I can get to the birds.

Heres a pic from this morn
Lucky, I had to shovel my path haha! The chicken coop is an old dog house so the snow is up to the roof! I had to shovel out the whole thing so it didn't colapse! But my contraption of a run has held up nicely!

I feel really bad for my chickens. With the blizzard, they got a couple of inches of snow in their coop. I feel terrible! poor things!!!!! We got over 2 feet of snow so far and it hasn't stopped yet. So it has been coming down fast and hard and blowing like crazy and it just blew in. I tried to cover the vents etc the best I could, but it was no use. We have 4 foot snow drifts here!!!

That little black blob is my coop haha! That is the run, it is 3 ft tall on the sides and the snow is almost to the top

Watching the snow, and probably saying "HA HA" to Toulouse and Nori

Oh My!!! Poor chickens:( This snow is crazy.

All for of my coops also had snow inside. 1 was from the door being open yesterday, 2 of them a little snow came through tiny cracks and maybe from the vents but my poor turkey house was filled with snow the vents are the entire top like 10ins around the roof line so the wind blew it all in. My poor turkeys. Everyone is fairing well though.

My coop is pretty sealed, The only larger crack where ventilation comes through it the front door and it leads to the run so it was covered. My babies stayed nice and dry

, but they didn't want to come out in the run when I let them out this morning because of the little bit of snow that blew into the run, they are such "chickens" haha! Toulouse mainly hates the snow, he didn't want to go to his waterer because there was a slight dusting around it. Nori could care less about the dusting because she has "boots" where as Toulouse is a polish so his feet are naked. I made them some soup to warm them up

I simmered carrots, peas, green beans, corn, and butternut squash in some water to soften them and added parsley, sage, basil, and rosemary. I let it cool over night and then re-warmed it this morning a little and threw in steal cut oats and a handful of their feed. Then I pureed it. I don't think they are HUGE fans, maybe a few too many different spices, but they're eating it. Next time maybe only one or two spices lol.

This is the silkie thread

But get a silver laced. I have one, he is my avatar, his name is Toulouse. But be warned, they are not very common in the US and I don't think there are a lot of breeders who breed them, so you may need to get hatchery. BUT, Toulouse is a second generation hatchery and he is gorgeous so you never know.
