Silkie thread!

Lucky, I had to shovel my path haha! The chicken coop is an old dog house so the snow is up to the roof! I had to shovel out the whole thing so it didn't colapse! But my contraption of a run has held up nicely!

Wow looks like it would be fun to make a snow man... Then come in & have hot chocolate with baileys..

Again not to BRAG, BUT our high here in Tempe Arizona will be maybe 57 '.... Just a bit windy... But loving it..
We had the record low of 25' a few weeks ago.. With the wind & dead leaves we will have the leaves for the chicken
run & nesting box's... When we are done with that we give the leaves with poo to our neighbor's for their garden
compost... Reuse for our environment ... From our environment.. ;)

Does anyones silkie roo have talons?? Kent has none... He went after our neighbor the other day..
I found if funny... They did not.. :)

I feel so bad for all of you buried in snow!! We got 1/2 an inch yesterday and I've been complaining about the cold all morning. Guess I'd better stop!!
I wish we only got 1/2 an inche! We got probably 3 feet of snow here.

I'm so tired of just trying to walk through the stuff... I guess I'll be sleeping good tonight.

Oh she is beautiful!! I personally love the beardeds! The hens are just wonderful, ok so I need a blue roo, black, splash hens. I honestly can't remember seeing this book anywhere, but I can defently look. I live in a very small town so we don't have a lot of variety as far as shopping. I am looking to start my silkies in April.
I don't know if they sell the APA standard of perfection books in stores? You're probably better off ordering online.

Just though I would post a couple pics of the project color chicks I got from peepblessed. They are so cute about 8 weeks old.

Cute.

Are they porcelain?

The roo was porcelian and the hen was dark blue. I believe she is working on a blue partridge project. I love the color and they seem to change everyday, I got four of them still unsure of the sex.

Ok my fellow Silkie peep. I need to bathe my DW's Silkies. They are getting pooped on by the orphan LF cockerel that is in the tractor with them because he roosts and the sleep under him. I have the Johnson Baby Shampoo. Do you just rinse the head or do you tilt back and rinse to try and avoid getting water in their nose. Some one please walk me through this process.

Tilt their heads back and rinse their heads, I use the hose in the sink to wash their whole bodies because they tend to put their heads in the water if the sink is filled.

Can you put a poop board under the LF cockerel? Something that will catch the poop and protect the silkies? I use PDZ on our LF egglayers poop board. It works great. We scoop and clean with a kitty litter scooper.

If you can't use the sprayer in your sink....then have several tubs or buckets...one for shampoo...one for rinse...and one for a final rinse with a bit vinegar. If you can get the inexpensive squeeze ketchup bottles at a dollar store, they are good for directing the shampoo to the parts of the body that need it the most.

The reason I don't do this is because when washing their heads they pull them down into the water, and if you try to keep their heads up they fight harder to put them down. You can always get a cheap faucet fixture that attaches right to the faucet, they make them for bathing dogs.
