Silkie thread!

I think Yoshee is going to be a first time Daddy- I didn't even think that he figured out how to mate, but 6 eggs that I put in the incubator have veins!. Now, what do I do with the eggs that come while those are in the incubator- I don't want to throw them out, knowing they might be fertile.  No friends with incubators.  Dang it.  I need more incubators, I guess :)

staggered hatch? i just put a fresh egg in my bator with the ones that have been in there for 5 days.

Thanks so much for the quick response! So, she IS silkie - but why is she not as fluffy as other silkie babies? Is this normal? Will she get big and fluffy?
Thanks again!
Couldn't tell in the pictures if she has black skin, check for that also. That's a good sign of a silkie. Certainly looks like one.

Give the feathers some time.

Here is the Silkie that I thought was Grey, but the judge said Lemon Blue? on my entry card. Can anyone tell me if this is a lemon blue Silkie or if there is even such thing as a lemon blue Silkie
It almost looks like some sort of a partridge...but not really. I don't think this is an actual color of a Silkie?

Your avatar confused me! :p
Isn't it funny how we recognize each other by the avatars, not names? lol Someone goes and changes an avatar and nobody knows who that person is anymore.

How does showing your chickens work? I mean in a show..
Well..answering that question would take a little bit of explaining, but I'll try to make it short.
First you want to make sure you have a chicken that's worthy of showing. Find a show somewhere close enough to your own liking. Look up information about the show, rules, entry forms etc. Start preparing your bird several weeks before the show. Make sure they're getting proper feed, this helps with the condition of your bird. Give them a bath, keep out of dirt and mud before the show so you'll have a clean bird on the show day. Once you get to the show, have fun and take everything as a learning experience!
I'm taking two of my Silkies to our first show in a couple of days. Hopefully I'm well prepared! lol

ya know what? I did take a picture months back to see if they were fertile. I forgot about that! I believe I still have the picture here. I think this is the one. does it look fertile to you?

Looks fertile to me.

5 week old splash. Any idea male or female? We can't have roo's in our city limits, so I am hoping female so I can go pick her up from the breeder this week!
Thanks for your help!
Looks girlie but it's too early to tell what gender he/she is.

Haha you can always send me some!! ;)

Thing is about the eggs, I can take eggs from my LF group, there is no rooster there... and they all look like this egg. I'm so confused!

I have a nine month old roo & he isn't ready yet but I have other roos. Once I see him doing his thing I wait a week or so just to make sure. I collect eggs storing pointy side down. I wait until I have at least a doz. eggs before I incubate because it is not worth running the electricity on just a few eggs but don't I store longer than 9 days. I put the lay date in pencil on egg just to see for myself what egg hatched. I tilt the stored eggs just a tiny bit every day. store in cool place but not below 55* or so. Once in the bator at 35% humidity candle at day 7 to see little spider showing. I don't candle again until lockdown when I take the turner out. My last batch I had 99% hatch rate.

Can lighter colored silkies have lighter akin that darkens up as they get older? All of my adults are silkies, I have 1 yellow chick hatched today that has really light colored skin. What would cause this?
