I just put my 24 Catdance eggs into the incubator! I have my fingers crossed! Those poor little eggs traveled a long way to VA. I sure hope they develop! This is going to be the longest 21 days ever!!

I've considered ordering some Catdance eggs, but wasn't sure how they'd do traveling across the country. Being in Va too, I'm very interested to see how yours do! Please keep us updated!?!?

Put one more egg in the bator! So for anyone who has done a staggered hatch, if my other eggs end up showing signs of development, what do you do? I have eggs that have been in there for about a week, one egg I put in yesterday, and one from today.

A few of my 1 1/2 month old silkies

Hello I hope you don't mind me showing a few pics and asking questions.
This is my first silkie, bought at a 4-H poultry fair last weekend. Tag just said Bantam white bearded silkie. no date of birth or of course sex. I noticed he has a few black feathers and getting a few more on its head, a bit flight until I hold it then cuddles right down. Any info you can give me would be great! Like age!! I also got 3 bantam barred rocks, 3 weeks old they do okay together now but I'll have to get it a silkie buddy I think.

It looks like a paint to me also. 5 - 6 weeks. It could also be a splash. Too young to sex. Here's a photo of a 5 - 6 wk old splash chick.

I have done staggered hatches and I wasn't real happy with the out come. I now use one incubator for the first 18 days and another for lockdown. If you don't have that option, wait until you see a pip to raise the humidity and have the humidity up around 50 when pipping is getting close.

Hello, update on my guys here!

Finally got a Roo boy for my white pullet, he's about 12 weeks now and always growing...


And here's my 6 month old White pullet, Rory, who has been on this thread once before

She's going to her first show in a couple weeks, any opinions on her?



Also have a splash pullet with me too, but she just happens to have 6 toes on each foot!

As lovely as she is, she won't be headed to any shows any time soon...

my silkie went BROOOODY and was sitting on 7 eggs yuippie but i went to check on her today and its day 10 there was only 6 eggs under her huh what happined to them i dno theres no snakes or racoons and dont think it was a rat becouse theres no hole dug under it so rule out rats but theres still 6 left and i have 8 eggs in my incubator i had 10 but trew 2 away i had 3 silkie eggs in it but 1 was infertile but the other 2 look ok its only day 10 any advice about where the egg went and about the hopefully new eggs that MIGTH HAATCH dont count your chicks befor they hatch

id say defo feale becouse first dosent look like it has a beard dosent have thick legs and not that big for a silkie cock for 5 weeks so id say female
