Silkie thread!

I posted a while back "Silkie or roo" Most of you all said Roo. So, wanting a HEN I adopted 6 silkie chicks and a random Frizzle chick. Well It's been about 3 to 4 weeks, and the Bigger silkie is closer to 4.5 months and the little ones are about 7 weeks old. (I also have a 4.5 mo old Polish Pullet who is bonded with the older silkie) The older Babies too young to put with my big hens, but too big to be in the house, and my little ones TOO many to be in the house. Fighting for space, I combined them together in the garage. To my surprise the Silkie is mothering all the chicks. Literally opening the wings up and letting them all in, along with the Polish (who is too big to snuggle but will do it anyways)

SO could this Silkie really be a Roo if it's soooo mother like?

Out of the 6 silkies 4 of them have regular combs(3 mulberry in color one pink), 2 have normal empty spots. All but 1 has 5 toes, ALL have black skin and Silkie feathers. Strange batch of mixed silkies for sure. And my Frizzle is the cutest dang thing I have ever seen, but the comb and pointy wing feathers lead me to believe Roo..bumbed about having to rehome him.

Anyways, what do you all think?

The silkie I was set to get yesterday decided to attempt to crow (and only 5 weeks old!!) Since no roo's in Dallas city limits, I can't bring him home anymore, and I'm heart broken!

My roos take better care of the chicks than the moms. :D

I have 2 chicks - Spitzhauben and silkie - both 6 weeks old. Today here in Dallas it is currently 55 degrees and very sunny (no clouds) and going to get up to 75. Is it warm enough to let them outside to peck around in the dirt? I'll be right there with them, just want to make sure it's warm enough! Thanks!

Agree!

Took a picture of one of my favorite Catdance chicks today. A Porcelain that is coming along so pretty. Baby is twenty days old and cold outside so hunkering down but stood very still for a picture.
