now that i spead its wing,i see it is rather shreaded looking.thank you for piece of mind.i would have fretted till they were old enough to actuall look like a silkie.

i posted a few pics. when i first got them but in just a few days they have already begun to change.

So if I wanted to try and keep a small flock of Silkies to do work as my incubators and brooders, who is the best go to person in the Pacific NW? I know way back in the day Doddie Truedson and Marge Best had some great silkies, but that was then as they say, this is now. Are those still good people to talk to or?
I would contact Karen Larson.. I have a couple of her girls I had shipped to me and they are very nice. She is very knowledgable and it seems that most people I have talked with have been happy with their birds from her/

We went yesterday to Hardin poultry in Crumpled TN for my son to pick 5 silkie chicks out for his four H project(we came home with twelve tiny beautiful babies! ) They had some of the best looking chicks(ens) I have seen. Jonathan, took time to show us every bird he had and explain everything we needed to know. These people are awesome. Thank you again! I hope to get pictures of the babies up soon :)

Wow great great photos from ya all ;)
We have amazing weather here in Tempe Arizona now.. Last night the sunset was beautiful.
We were out in our front yard enjoying the perfect weather. The flock is eating the wild mulberry
trees fruit.. They are so sweet & delish.. I was harvesting them from the neighbors yard for them..
If any of ya end out this way let us know so ya all can pop on over for a cup of tea..

Glad I found this thread! I love Silkies :) We recently got a bunch of new Silkies.

We also have a partridge rooster, Luther, who has a habit of crowing right in my ear. This is a common sight for me:

We have 3 grown-up Silkie hens outside: 2 blacks, and a white.
