Silkie thread!

What a beauty, she certainly deserved that first place ribbon!

I'm loving all of these chick pics! One of my girls has been trying to go broody for about a month, she's plucked herself a blade spot and everything. But, I've got orders for hatching eggs and I want to fill my own bator so I've been very diligent in removing the eggs. If she's still broody by the time the bator chicks hatch I'll give her some chicks. I'm just hoping she'll keep laying so I can get everyones eggs to them. With only 3 girls laying, I need every egg I can get! But they've been laying everyday, bless their hearts. In a few more days I'll have enough eggs to start the bator. I'm going for 21, that should yield a good number of chickies (I hope)!

Thank you. :) I can't wait until she starts laying! We are only like four months away from that, lol...

This is a better picture of her: http://instagram.com/p/XxpsiShtBs/ Getting her to behave for the photo was tough!

Took a picture of one of my favorite Catdance chicks today. A Porcelain that is coming along so pretty. Baby is twenty days old and cold outside so hunkering down but stood very still for a picture.

foxy loves them too.she tries to moma them.but she does seem a little reluctant to share her pink bear.
Cute pictures! Your chicks wing look normal for a silkie. Your dog however don't look real!

I let my babies free range by themselves for the first time. They did so good! They spent most of the day hanging out by our Anatolian Shepherd. Smart babies!

In other news, 3 of my silkie hens are broody. One is on 4 turkey eggs, one is on 6 (or 7, I can't remember) assorted LF eggs, and one is on a single LF egg. I have 3 other wyandotte crosses that are broody. And I was 'gifted' with 20 leghorn pullet chicks yesterday (they were 25 cent a piece at TSC!) Oh, spring. You always bring me lots of surprises, mainly in the form of a flood of chicks

It looks like there might be something going on. Can you see veins in the 7 day ones?

No not really =( just pretty dark. The pictures don't come out well. The yolk areas are very dark, not just semi dark like the pictures. The 3 day one has those dark lines, I hope there is something going on! Should I take one of the two 7 day ones and break it open? I already threw out one that was a dud.

compared to a white^v

white covers other colors, but If it was a black roo, if I understand, they should have all turned out black?
