Silkie thread!

At what age do Silkies typically start laying? I have my 3 month olds in a mixed grow out coop and wonder how long I have before I have to start separating them. Hopefully I will be able to sex them before long. I will try to get some pics on here this weekend for y'all to look and see what you think.
Mine have always started around 8 months, they seem to be late bloomers. lol Except for my partridge pullet who started around 6 months. I've also heard some hens wait for a whole year before laying.
Post pictures of your chicks for us. Maybe someone can help you figure out the genders.

My girls helped me garden this afternoon, Cleo was helping me pull out weeds

Oh, she's a cutie! How is Ice liking the new chick?

I think she's jealous haha! She doesn't really know what to make of her, and she will leave her alone, then go over her and peck her (just lightly). Cleo tried to get under her at one point and ice kicked her out

literally she kicked her behind her! But they seem to get along okay. I won't be putting Cleo outside with ice alone though until she is older.

Apparently my silkies are back to laying. I found 5 eggs hoarded underneath a silkie pullet who is supposed to be hatching olive egger eggs for me in their dogloo. Several of the silkie eggs have definite veining, from the quick candling I did out in the pen. Here we go again, I guess

Holy bantams batman! I've only been gone a day, and there are 4 pages of posts! This isn't an important post, but am I hearing things or do silkies sound like R2D2? They look like a tribble and sound like R2D2. That has to be a sci fi fans dream, lol. Anyway I have started calling my fluffies beep boops. Thats the sound they make. Hope everyone had a good day!

Thanks so much!  I've used an ointment - must need to use a little more.  The vent area is pretty clear of feathers.  I use ACV for my 4-month olds.  Brain fart must have prevented me from doing it with the biddies.  :th

Should I be worried about her lack of growth?  The other silkie chicks are almost twice her size now.

I would be very concerned about her lack of growth, the failure to thrive causes I've read about haven't turned out good. I would be doing research on it and giving poly vi sol with out iron to her. I hope she starts growing for you.

Any chance this could be a paint? The girl I bought it from said she has blue, black, and splash silkies and she doesn't know who's egg it was.
