Silkie thread!

So, it is still my hen won't allow roos to mate with her, and the pullet does. All the pullet eggs are fertile and all the hen eggs are not. She will NOT mate with them. Has anyone ever seen this before?? Why won't she??

One of my 3 week old silkie chicks has a red comb. I first noticed it a few days ago. None of my other 7 silkies have red like that. Is this normal for a 3 week old chick? Does it mean anything? I know red usually means a roo, but isn't it too early for this?

Red comb is a common problem in buff. Very early to show up though. No doubt a boy.
Well...didn't take too many pictures today. This was pretty much it, other than some shots of Cassie's New Hampshire Red and Production Reds cruising around on the lawn. lol

My splash cockerel was BV. Partridge pullet was 2nd. Black pullet 1st. Not much to brag about.

Doc Holiday is 22 weeks old. Showing some promise I think. To think I thought she was a boy for the longest time. She has come a long ways!!
Showing some great type!!

What a sweetie!

(This is the baby that might be self blue)

Now that we see them in proper light, I'd say this chick is a blue.

No, not really. lol Wasn't a lot of competition...again. I wish more people would bring splashes! And silkies in general! This time, once again, there were only 2 splashes. And the other splash entered was really a blue... I have no idea why the judge didn't correct that?

So, it was a no brainer that my cockerel was BV.
I guess I should be happy with those results...but to me, it doesn't mean much. lol I feel like it's the same as if I was showing a horse and I was the only one in the class = first place. That's no fun!

Maybe she doesn't like those roo's? Even hen's have different tastes in men lol!
LOL. Well, I have 2 choices for her.. I removed the one she clearly didn't like, in hopes that she'd like the other one. nada. not yet anyways. and now she went broody, so who knows! She makes a great mom though, if I give her someone else's eggs!
