Silkie thread!

So, when do silkies get their head fluff and fill in all nice? My big girls are fluffing out on their body (about 5 weeks now), and are starting to get some big girl feathers coming in on their heads.

This may be some stupid questions that might have been answered, but I couldn't find any tips so thought I would ask.
First, do Silkie roos crow like a normal roo or is it a different sound.
Second, does anyone have tips on sexing Silkies? I know that they are hard to sex. These are not young chicks but at least year old chickens.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Golden
Year old? That should be easy =D Got any pics? Also, silkies crow just the same as any other rooster. Some are louder than others. I find all roosters have a signature crow though so not all roosters crow the same.

Actually, let me post a growth picture chart

This is the growth of Hachi, my splash pullet who was killed last fall by a hawk. She is the only one I have good growth photos of.

Just gorgeous!! If your slipped wing girl is really outstanding, it might be worth doing a test breeding.
Here she(?) is. This is her 'good' side lol. Her bad wing is on the other side. I don't know about really outstanding, but her type now at just 3 1/2 months makes me anxious to see her in another 7 months, totally filled out

This is the hen I'm almost sure is her mother. She has a really high tail too. Beautifully tight wings though.

I have alway heard silkies are the lap breed of chickens. In my 2week old mix brooder of 7 chicks my silkies always stay away from me but my astralorp is right there wanting to be petted and tolerates being held. What's up with my silkies, they shiver and peep peep peep as if I am killing them instead of acting friendly.

My Buff Orp is my friendliest. She is huge but jumps on my lap to cuddle like a baby chick lol.
