Little Spot is turning out to be a very pretty color. I hope Spot is a pullet so she can stay because I actually like this little mutt.

Good morning fellow chook lovers,

Well I am convinced I am just a sook! If its got feathers or fur, I'm a pushover.
Have just caved inand gave my little Snowy two more eggs to sit on. She has been sitting on two for 23 days and nothing is happening and I feel so sorry for the poor little girl. So two of hr sisters laid this morning so I have given them to Snowy so she has something for all her work.
Will she be okay sitting for all up six weeks? I give her a separate bowl of scraps and crutch mix each morning and she devours that down I don't leave water in case she upends it in the box.
Has anyone else had them sit so long?

Why don't you just pick up a couple chicks for her? That'll put an end to all that sitting.

Mmm, good idea but no local silkie breeders around here. The local produce store has none either. Not even a couple of Isa Browns or anything!! Will keep m ears to the ground tho. Good idea, thank you.

Does it have black skin and five toes?
Silkies do not have single combs, which is what your chick looks to have. Chicken breeds mix just like dogs and cats and other animals.

Thanks for the info! She has five toes, but I'm not sure what color she is underneath. I really didn't know they mixed . . . and I'm a little irked to know the Feed Store sells birds incorrectly named.

Possibly a Cochin mix? Looks a lot like my partridge in the face.

I mean that is what the feed stores sell. She is totally cute though. Could be a frizzled silkie? looks a bit frizzly lol
