I think broodies do it much better. I use my incubator during December through Feb. and let the broodies do it Spring and Summer. Is it this difficult to hatch them out under a broody or just the incubator?

Does anyone have pictures of blue/splash silkies purchased from Catdance's hatching eggs? Can be chicks or adults. Thanks.
Really fun shots!Ok, picture overload time!!!
This little self-blue looks like it has a bunny rabbit tail.![]()
Almost looks like they're inspecting whatever they found.
The must have butt shot.![]()
I hope they're not all boys.![]()
Little Spot is turning out to be a very pretty color. I hope Spot is a pullet so she can stay because I actually like this little mutt.![]()

I have had them sit through two cycles. You are doing the right thing by feeding her well.Good morning fellow chook lovers,
Well I am convinced I am just a sook! If its got feathers or fur, I'm a pushover.
Have just caved inand gave my little Snowy two more eggs to sit on. She has been sitting on two for 23 days and nothing is happening and I feel so sorry for the poor little girl. So two of hr sisters laid this morning so I have given them to Snowy so she has something for all her work.
Will she be okay sitting for all up six weeks? I give her a separate bowl of scraps and crutch mix each morning and she devours that down I don't leave water in case she upends it in the box.
Has anyone else had them sit so long?
My EE chicks always pop right out of the shell but the silkies seem to really work hard to get out. Your temp and humidity sound fine but it's critical to check you thermometer and hygrometer for accuracy. If most of the chicks are hatching on day 21. Your thermometer is probably correct.Hi, I got 18 hatching eggs from Catdance Silkies. It's day 22 and only four have hatched and that was yesterday. No hatches in more than 12 hours.
There are 11 eggs still in the incubator that looked viable at 15 days. I'll give them a couple more days just in case. I opened it long enough to take the ones that have hatched out (I also had other standard eggs and quite a few of them hatched yesterday morning). I don't hear any noise from the eggs that are in there. Not sure what I did wrong.![]()
Do you ever / often have late hatchers with the silkies? What do you run humidity at during the first 18 days and during the last 3 days? If you hatch silkies and other chicken breeds, do you do anything with different with the silkies?
I have a genesis 1588. Temp was stable at 100 +/- 0.5. I used the 'dry hatch' method. Humidity stayed between 25% - 45% during the first 18 days (mostly right about 30%). I raised it to 65% - 70% the last three days. Any advice for next time?
Thanks,
Shanna
Pink toes are common in blue and usually darken in the first few weeks. There was probably a very dark blue bird in the black pen. It's easy to happen.
