Silkie thread!

so my chicks that have that gene mutation... the lack of pigment gene... well, they were supposed to be blues. Well, the one that the feathers are coming in blue, he has some white feathers on his feet! and the other one has wing feathers coming in and they are very very light. like a splash. this keeps gettign weirder and weirder!

Is it this difficult to hatch them out under a broody or just the incubator?
I think broodies are easier. They know what they're doing. You just let them do their job.

Then again, I've only hatched in an incubator once, but I still feel that Mother Nature does her job much better. lol

Here's some chicks.

Three of these are self-blue.
Is that a porcelain in there?

They're all so cute.

I think I've finally found what killed my white pullet last year. I thought it was a rat, because there is a rat hole. I think it was a polecat. Lots of people call skunks pole cats, but they are a different animal. Anyway, one was visiting my brother's place (so was a raccoon, and a opposum- he has no garbage out, and no animals!.. They are prowling in his recyclables. Anyway- looks like the one in this pic (pic not of the actual culprit).

Looks like a mink or weasel. -Pam
