Silkie thread!

Whites can be difficult to keep white, so IMO, not the best choice for a beginner who dosn't have a variety preference. My answer to the question is to get the bird(s) with the best type that you can find that are also a recognized variety. By and larg, any recognized variety has an equal shot at placing, although some seem more likely to win--but from everything I have seen, it is not bacuse of the variety itself, but beause of the bird's type. The only time I ever saw a bird with the best type not win was when a judge thought that splash wasn't recognized--but it had been for YEARS.
I think Silkies are the only breed I know of who have Splash recognized. The other breeds that I know of Splash is not a recognized color... Maybe that's why the judge was confused?

The boys are so good with the littles. Owl is sleeping in the same box as the 7 week old babies - and sometimes I find one or two under him. The Hens kicked them to the curb weeks ago...

Is that a White Crested Black Polish? Its funny, when I first saw the picture I thought the black bird had gotten some of Snowman's feathers stuck to its head

Ah, good to know - that was recently, right?  Is it the Splash Copper - or just the Splash?

Are there any other Breeds that have Splash as a recognized color?  Inquiring minds want to know!

Game bantams and orpingtins I believe. There are more. I think there are splash ameracaunas.

The color is there for the AMs - the recognition in the SOP is not there.  They can be shown under AOV only.

I was asking about breeds that have that color accepted into the ABA/APA SOP - not just breeds that can be bred to that color (almost any breed that has blue CAN be bred to that color).

That's why I said I think.
