Silkie thread!

Today was just the worst day possible on my little farm!!! Watched helpless as a fox literally raced in and snatched my two best silkie girls, Meg and Sally. It all happened too quick and I am devastated. I was so cranky and can't believe how **** brazen the huge red ******* was to grab two at once. I have cried like a baby all afternoon and still can't believe it happened.

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that. Wow two at one time? He had one in his mouth and managed to grab another? I can't even imagine that. We have fox running around all the time hear too, I no way can let my Silkies out.

I am so sorry to hear that. Such a hard lesson to learn - and loosing both of them is awful.

All my Silkies are either penned or free-range with other birds that can keep a better watch - but if I had foxes or bobcats around I don't think I would free-range. I am hearing more stories of predators coming in during the day and snatching chickens - I think everybody is going to stay in their pens for a bit until the predators move on. Just too dangerous right now.

That's what I did this morning petted her a little and she attacked me. She also runs up and starts pecking my clothes and me hard. My friend said she would love to have her.

Then I would give her to your friend :)

My Barred Rock girl is treading on thin ice with her pecking and attitude. As long as she doesn't get outright aggressive she can stay, but I won't keep a mean chicken. My granddaughter loves tending the chickens and I don't want her having a bad experience.

That is just so awful! This is the reason I went overboard in the beginning and made Six foot tall walls and covered the top of my run. I didn't want to have to experience something like this. I am so sorry :(

Ok, so here are my chicks, 8 weeks old. :) first are the side views. There are 4 chicks in total. Most were in mid walk or something like that

Here is the group shot of the four.

And some closeups.
