went out to check on eggs and one of my older hens was in my duck kiddy pool I think I got to her in time but she still isn't breathing good I have never gave a chicken CPR till now I have her wraped up in towel is there anything eels I should do

sounds like we are going thru the same thing!! My sweet blue splash got stuck in my kiddy duck pool and was so near death. I ran her in and dried her off and tried to bring her body temp back up. A day later she is still so shaky and hasn't gotten up, ate or drank. :'( but I'm just going to keep her in the house till she recovers. I sure hope yours is doing better!! Praying for our babies! someone one here also told me if she can't eat, to mix peanut butter and water to make a slurry and feed it to her with a dropper or syringe . I'm hoping it helps my Dotty. Fingers crossed!!

Woohoo! My very first chick hatched today!

My first Silkie laid her 1st egg Aug 9th and is now sitting on her 1st clutch of eggs - 12 in all. By my calculations, today was Day 21 and sure enough, the first one hatched this afternoon.

Bobbi Porto - Nitro is a granddad (again, I'm sure). Elvis is black like his dad (my avatar) and Stormey is blue, also one of Bobbi's beauties. I've named this first chick Uno.

What color do you think she is? The first two pictures are the truest to her real color.

I didn't want any bantams. I was affraid they'd be to sensitive and hard to keep clean. But I had such terrible luck with shipped eggs and I could only find someone with silkies locally, then Mille FLeurs. I love them, especially the SIlkies. Little cuddle bugs.

What's happened to my two chicks bottoms?

Pasty Butt, get a warm wet paper towel hold it on the poop keep rinsing the paper towel in warm running water and holding it there untill its soft enough to clean off. Not something you want to let go I read they can die from it if not taken care of. I put Probios in their water and gave them chick grit. Seemed to help. Change water daily. Mine went away.

I thought we were supposed to change water daily anyways. I change mine 2x a day and the chicks get it done 3x-because they are messy! Anyways sounds easy enough to take care of, great advice!

For pasty butt, I add a splash of apple cider vinegar to the water and smear Vaseline on their little butts.
