Silkie thread!

Soothes their little butts and helps prevent the poop from sticking.

Hmmm good to know but it kinda grosses me out to touch their butts

Newbie32 you could always apply the Vaseline with q-tips cotton swabs - that should put the "Ick" factor beyond actually touching them.

Well then you probably don't want to know that I don't use paper towel. I run their little butts under warm running water and gently pick the poop out of the feathers. If the problem persists rubbing only makes them sore.

I am so sorry that happened.

Keep her warm, give her electrolytes or poultry drench and hopefully she will recover.  Chickens don't have "lungs" like we do - and getting water in their system is very bad for them.

:fl

I had a young chicken get in the duck water and it seemed okay when I pulled it out (I lost two to drowning and now the ducks don't get to swim in their pool). It was sneezing but I thought that was good because it would help get the water out. It has been over a month now and the chicken still has sneezing and congestion without any discharge. I don't know if he will be okay or not. He has been given antibiotics but still has symtoms.

I thought we were supposed to change water daily anyways. I change mine 2x a day and the chicks get it done 3x-because they are messy! Anyways sounds easy enough to take care of, great advice!
:thumbsup

Just letting you know the directions of the Probios it says change daily. Bet of luck getting rid of it, I hated the pasty butt! My chicks that the hens raised never got it but the ones that I had to hatch out in the house did.
