They really don't mind. My hen just sat there patiently

One of my chicks is clucking for another chick to get a morsel it found, is this a sure sign its a boy? They are 10 weeks old now. I was thinking this one was a girl, but now I don't know.

Anyone ever have a chick hatch that can't walk with its legs out in front and sits on its butt? I have a little black bearded silkie under a broody that hatched today like that. It is very strong just can't walk. I gave him poly vi sol with out iron and hobbled him with a bandaid and put him back under mommy. Its not really splayed legs, but I thought hobbling might help. I really want to save him if I can. Can anyone help?

I had one like that, I put him in a little tea cup for the day (so he had to stand up straight) and by the end of the day he had climbed out and was 100% normal.

Yay! It was just not being able to see... and in a new place then?

Um.. not really. I had a chick that let all the other chicks sleep underneath HER and called them over when she had food. The chicks were the same age, all about 4 weeks old. She is now my best mommy Silkie - Hatchery bird, but a really great mother. I would just watch yours - when it feeds the other chicks does it rear up or "dance" - or does it just go find more food?

Most of mine can see, but I have no problem with trimming them if they are walking into things and having trouble finding food.
I love beardless Sillies. I am working on beardless SQ Partridge Silkies.. I have a Smutty Buff girl now who sort of looks like your gold ones since I started with what I had - Partridge boy and Buff girl. I love your bird's color.
