Silkie thread!

They could be white, my whites hatch like that sometimes.
I was thinking that also. Yet so far all of my other whites hatched white/ slightly yellow. These little guys have a chipmunk pattern. So who knows.

I've even seen the chipmunk pattern in a few of my chicks. You can kind of see it in this picture, with the darker stripe running up the back. Still feathered out completely white, it grew into one of these in this picture.

It would make sense. Although the dad is blue, I'm pretty sure all of the moms of these are my whites. Granted they could be hiding color, but they threw 5 whites out of the previous 15 chicks. My blue hen contributed to the last hatch also. There were 5 whites, 3 blacks ,4 blue, 2 partridge, 1 splash. We lost four in the fall hatch. The splash was champagne with chipmunk stripes. The whites were white or very pale yellow, blacks typical black with white bellies, blues were blue, partridge were dark little chipmunks. I didn't expect these little ones from this hatch at all being these colors. Silly Silkies.

first two, buff and lavender....but I have NO idea on the last two! keep in touch and let us know how they feather!
I will! I talked to Shari at Harvest Breeze (the lines they come from) and she thinks they will all be white. It's a fun little mystery!

They got their first little bites of food this morning. They haven't been brave enough to try the water yet. They are still wobbly but doing better. I put the food and water close to momma so she will stay on the eggs that are being stubborn. However today may be the hatch day for those two eggs. They went under her a little later than the others and those were due yesterday, but hatched a day early.
