Sundown Silkies I'm glad you discovered the chicks leg before something really awful happened . It's been rainning here all week
all my apple trees are blossoming and we cann't even smell them . Usally it's warm and damp days and you can smell them all through our home . On a better note I was able to put away 2 cases of fiddle heads
I have had one of the best hatches out of 23 eggs 21 have hatched and 1 was a day late and is working on coming out and so far I have only lost 1 of the 23 it just didn't pip and died. So 21 so far out and running around!!! Some pics..17 of the eggs were eggs I bought from a Breeder and 6 of the eggs were from my own flock.
(Hope the pics aren't too big)
Oh yes cut down a little egg cartons make great water trays for new hatched babies.

she is blue. if you breed her to a pure lav or lav split some of the chicks will be blue. however because blue and lav chicks are very similar at birth it will be awhile before you can tell who is blue and who is lav. this is why using blacks for this project is prefered.
temp ran 101-102 (Still air styro bator) only filled middle water trap ever so often. Never touched the eggs was in an egg turner only candled on day 18 filled all water trays and added a sponge and never opened it again!
I have always been so bad with fiddling with the temps and once I added eggs I would have to fiddle some more. So this time it ran for 11 days before I added eggs. Temps kinda settled themselves I didn't pay much attention to humidity just every two days if I remembered I added some water. Also with touching them I would candle way to much being too crazy about seeing if they are still alive. This time I didn't touch them at all oh day 18 when I took them out of the egg turner I candled them and was surprised they were all alive. I also used the egg cartons to hatch in.
