I like it! I have something very similar to the single wide version of this and it's worked out well. My only problem is I like to be able to get in the run with my birds and the design wouldn't allow it.

Where do you live right now? That might help us direct you to a breeder. Also keep an eye out on the auction sites like bidbird.com or featherauction.com. Also keep an eye on the BST section of the forum here.

I would consider a single comb bird PQ. to me a bird that deserves to pass on its genes does not have any DQs. single comb is not something you want to try to breed out of your flock.

Sigrid has an explanation for the reason a single comb pops up in a flock. Who knows where my book is right now but if I remember correctly she states the P gene is one of the genes responsible for the walnut comb. But that gene is delicate and dies off if utilized by having the males in the breeding pen.

I'm painting the inside of the house but I will go hunting it later and find what she has to say about the P gene.

good idea, I had not thought of that, so I think all the tops will be hinged , the design already allows for it so '' IT SHALL B DONE'' MUHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA

I like it too, but for the reason above, I would have to make some adjustments. Ive seen breeding pens for silkies where the outside walls are high and the whole pen is covered for predator protection, then the dividing walls are only 2-3 ft high and you could enter the high wall and step over into the runs if you needed to. I always admire those who have a PLAN in place before they build...
