Silkie thread!

OOoo, are you selling any whites right now? Are they bearded?
Yes all of my silkies are bearded. I don't have them separated into breeding pens yet. Sooo, when I sell eggs they are a box of chocolates. My last personal hatch was 5 whites out of 5 eggs. I am hearing however that the ones I have shipped are hatching quite a few partridge and blue black splash. I have a broody on 9 now, so we will see what comes of it. I can gather a dozen mixed for you if you want to try. The shipping can be pretty salty though. I'm not discouraging you by any means, I would love to sell you eggs. ;-) I just wanted to give you the heads up.
This is my last hatch from january

The moms and dad.

Ive posted these before, but its easier to repost than to send you on a wild goose chase through my albums.

I have a question, my beautiful silkie hens have been going through what seems like a perpetual molt. Last summer they were gorgeous. They get a lot of vitamins and I try to keep them in top condition for breeding, but last fall they all got beard lice somehow. I was devastated, and they lost their beards. I have three hens, pictured above, that look awful right now. Tails are super thin, crests are also. I don't know what it could be other than they just turned a year in december, maybe slow molting. Or the lice really messed up their plumage and it is taking forever to come back. Although the lice is gone, they seem to look worse than before. Not neglected bad, just not so pretty right now lol. I hope some of you can help me with this. I want to get them back to their usual beautiful selves. Thanks!

This is her now.

Is so frustrating to know you have good quality birds and no matter what you do, it seems to be wrong. Help! LOL

how much for the shipping

how much for the shipping
It just depends on where they are going. I'm in Indiana, and I have shipped with-in a couple of hours of me and it was around $6, $16 to West Virginia, And around $35 to Oklahoma. I ship priority so they get there with-in a couple of days. If they are going very far, I sometimes use double boxes and that makes the package a bit larger. It's to make certain the eggs get there in one piece, and that air cells remain intact. If anyone is interested they can PM me for egg pricing details. :)

Your whites are beautiful..did you say you are getting splash also? I have been trying for another splash. I miss my girls. I had both a white and a splash in the past that I miss. I've had chickens for years..had the silkies for a while, also cochins. My two very favorite bantams ever. I now wish to have silkies and cochins again. I was just going with the LF for eggs. My grandchildren loved the silkies too. Here's a photo of my white and splash. Not sure I posted it before for someone else oh here. Indiana is a good place for me to buy from. I have kept records of the not so good areas. I'm in Utah as you can see..can you let me know how much?

I can try if you give me your zip code. It varies though depending on the size of the box. Since you are in Utah, I will have to package them very well to ensure you get your eggs in one piece. I have a splash boy from my first hatch, and I believe a few from shipped hatches. They aren't as common as the partridge, blue and white though.

I'm having the same problem. I didn't find any lice, but I did have mites at one time. Pretty sure they are long gone now. My girls look terrible. My roos and Polish trio look fine.
