Silkie thread!

thanks! I just purchased a turner as I had 24 shipped eggs that never hatched. All hand rolled. Have 2 incubator going now with a whole new process.
I have received shipped eggs that never hatched because they were INFERTILE! The only time I ever don't get a good hatch is when that happens. Even when I've received broken eggs in the shipment, I still get at least some to hatch.

number 1 is to invest in a an egg turner, this has enabled their air cells to heal while incubating I believe.
Some I let sit for 3 hours, some for a day or two (wouldn't wait as long as two days, but I had some vacancy issues...As in, there was no vacancy in my incubator! Lol

I do have a turner and I let them sit for 12 hours. I am incubating all I received because heck I am not sure yet on my candling!! I have no clue if they had saddle shaped air cells! I reallydidn't know what a regular one looked like lol.

My hen silkies comb isn't very big, she's already 7 months old, do you think it will get bigger? It's still growing but do you think it will get a lot bigger or just a little?

I have heard that letting the eggs rest a day is ideal - but, if they are older eggs, the older they get the less well they will do. One option might be to begin incubation, but not turn for the first day or three.

Sorry to quote my own post, but I am looking for critiques of these 5 for breeding purposes. almost 4 months technically. Good toes. I am keeping 1 of the 3 boys and maybe the girls not sure yet. Any experienced opinions would be awesome.

Did you have a look at the link I posted ? As with my whites you have yellow beaks sneaking in. The beak should be ' leaden blue ' like the 3 rd pic. These are just minor things and if you aren't showing don't really matter. I'm not sure how many points that accounts for either.
