Silkie thread!

They will share responsibility when they hatch.

It all depends on how well your handicapped Dolly will do in her momma duties. If she's had chicks before she'll do fine as long as she and Henley aren't fighting. I have two Silkies that go broody together in a box but if they actually had eggs one Silkie is too combative to share if there were real eggs under them.
Dolly has never had her own brood as far as I know. She has a curled foot that wasn't corrected as a chick. She gets around okay, but she can't use ramps. The chicks would definitely get away from her. Henley is a first timer also. She is just 7 months old. I am going to let them hatch in the coop with the flock this time. I usually bring them in the house, but I want to see how they do with the other flock members.

I "want to see how they do" sounds too experimental to me. Silkies are gentle souls but I've also seen them jump 4-feet in the air pulling out the other's crest feather. I wouldn't do experiments with 1st timers. 7 months is pretty young to be a good momma but not impossible. Let us know how it turns out. Inquiring minds want to know what or how you all will do.

I micro manage them, so there wont be a opportunity for injuries. I will probably end up bring her inside to hatch like the rest of them. But I'm going to keep her outside as long as possible this time. All of my broodies have been first timers around that age and have so far all done great. So here's hoping. :)

Those Silkies are just born to be mommas!

Micro-managing LOL - I love it! And can totally identify with that!

Your feed store will carry wormer. Valbazen in the cattle section works great for chickens and kill all worms. 1/4 cc for bantys and Silkies.
Dose again in 10 days.

I use safeguard as it treats for all worms too. I have tried , but can't get valbazen here in Australia . Wazine and piperazine only treat round worm.

I have 2 x first time mommas sharing 1 x chick. They don't fight, and I say it is the most loved chick on the place.

Thanks, she's a partridge , Ginger Rodgers , she's currently hatching eggs. Just waiting for the sun to come up so I can do head count.
Thats what I was thinking she was :) Do you have a pic of her as a tiny chick? Im trying to figure out what type of color my lil partridge is going to be, and im guessing something like yours but I have no idea :)
