Silkie thread!

Cute! Look at those fuzzy legs :D did you get them from Tonya Morris in Oregon? I got some of mine from her she lives a short ways down the free way from me. Adorable peeps!

Yes I did. She was great and they are precious. Enjoying the beautiful day out in their little run.

This is Seven Dust. I'm a visual person..so I share photos..thinking maybe I'm not alone. :D
Sevin is a pesticide for garden and livestock. It comes in diferent strengths 5% or 7% I believe. Font quote me on that. My when I had my rooster at the vet he told me to mix it half and half with corn starch if I ever used it again.
Sevin dust is a pesticide powder. Get the 5%, its for use on vegetable, fruits, ornamentals and lawns. You can find it at Tractor Supply, Wal-Mart or just about anywhere else that has a garden section :)
Thank you everyone! I think next time I go shopping I'll pick up the 5% and ... It won't hurt 'em if I just take it plain outta the container and apply it on and under their feathers? :)

I'm re-posting this because nobody answered me the first time.
I need some reassurance. My Silkie is 3.5 weeks old and I have a few clues to what sex "she" is.
First off I vent sexed her and came out with pullet. Second I noticed that "she" is very timid and smaller then all the other Silkies that we got.
Third "she's" a partridge and I think she's got the pullet coloring. Fourth she doesn't "fight" for dominance and she doesn't even chase the other chicks when they have a treat. "She's" just quiet little Silkie. I can't keep her if she's a roo.

BTW she was only 7/8 of a oz when I got her. Is that normal?

So heres my oldest silkies, about 7wks. Im pretty sure I have a pair, but you never know.
I believe this one is my male. More prominent waddles, smaller crest, but he has a bigger comb.

This is my pullet (hopefully)

Her crest grew in first, I thought she was a he for the longest! She also has no waddles, no comb, and her comb has stayed the same color, while my male's comb has started to get a new hue

roo on the left.
Ive also noticed with my 4wk old silkies that one buff chick has a rounded tail while the other two have pointy butts.

I would agree that you have at least 1 x roo there. It becomes easier to pick in your own lines but there's always 1 that will keep you guessing.
This little guy was obviously a roo from about 5 weeks of age.

This one on the other hand had me convinced it was a roo, and then it laid an egg last week. :celebrate

Her expression looks very rooish, but what an awesome outcome! I hope I get the same results:fl

Hi, your pictures are cute. I had a question. Im somewhat new here and Got chicks a couple of weeks ago and I had a question. I have three silkie chicks that have all their feathers (their feet are also feathery). But what I dont understand is their comb and feathers. I posted images. You'll notice that the comb is bright red and their feathers a slicker than I thought, like a RIR. They are about 2-2 1/2 weeks old. when I looked at images online the silkies at that age looked like a cotton ball all puffy. I want to know if mine are silkies... or a different breed of chicken. Thanks please reply. Here they are:
Trying to catch up... those are d'Uccles; likely mille fleurs.
