Silkie thread!

Thanks for the replies! I've seen where some individuals add BOSS, shelled nuts, Calf Manna, or other types of supplements to the feed. Does anyone add a combo of any of these or other things? If so, how much do you add to the feed?

Sundown, I like the idea of the 20% protein for all ages. I was looking at a bag of Dumor yesterday for some of my chicks, but I was concerned that it was not medicated. Have you had any problems with that?

I do add some Calf Manna to their food about 2 months before a show.

That's the reason I picked Dumor. I wanted a non-medicated feed. I've never had problems with coccidia. I believe its in the soil (?), and prevelant in some areas more than others. I've had poultry for the last 8 or more years and haven't had any problems with Coccidia, so I just continue to use non-medicated.

I've been using Dumor 20% crumbles for all the birds chicks through adults. I get it at Tractor Supply. The adults I will alternate with some lay mash from the local feed mill/or lay pellets once in a while. They seem to do better on higher protein and their feathers stay in nicer condition.

Im also interested in hearing what others feed, including supplements/vitamins, etc.

I feed mine as a treat sometimes cat food or black sunflower seeds.

That reminds me, I have to get a bag of BOSS. They haven't had that all winter.

of spoils . Gavin does all the boring crumbles and shells etc... I am the goodie tray lady - my birds get something everyday normally fresh picked grass --- fresh lettuce - tomatoes -- cooked noodles -- corn -- leftovers my my offices meeting - they get lovely trays of sliced veggies . And in this heat - huge bowls of ice water and frozen bottles.

cute birds, Turken Lady! that last looks like a partridge. I feed mine a bowl of flock raiser, with a handful of black sunflower seeds with shells on, and about a quarter cup of manna pro, since theyre all young and still growing. I put strawberries out there too, they are so fun to spoil, Im enjoying the different diets you all are feeding. I for one am impressed with rather than amused by the spoiling.

My birds are all adults and we're only doing the layer feed and sunflower seed thing. However, when we run out of feed, we're going to switch onto flock-raiser. My rooster rejects the sunflower seeds and he's taking WAY too long to molt...Need that good protein!

Anyone else's birds dislike sunflower seeds still in the shell? I have to crush up the seeds just so they eat them!
