Remember the hard time Zelda was having and laying nothing but rubber eggs for over a week. Well I started feeding her layer crumbles instead of flock raiser and giving her yogurt, she now has shells on her eggs! Doing much better! Even tho I would see her pick at the oyster shell now and then I guess she didn't eat it enough. I also have a English bantum that after changing to flock raiser I was having egg bound problems with never had a problem before. I know a lot of you just feed the flock raiser with oyster shell with no problems just wanted to share my experience.

I'm leaning towards boy on this one, not sure tho. Need to find a good home.

Many thanks for the reply; I thought her plumage pattern more resembled a partridge than a gray. I think she will grow up to be a very pretty lady (or gentleman...).
The chipmunk is my 2-week old easter-egger chick.

I'll post another picture of her in a few weeks time to see what people think.

How do I introduce 1 batch of older chick to younger 1s without getting them beat up

I have an outdoor brooder for my chicks, the older chicks get to interact with them safely for a couple of weeks through chicken wire. After that I let them free range together while i supervise. They have been free ranging for 2 weeks now and i still see them getting picked on, but it's only a warning/peck order peck. I never see bald spots or blood. I am a firm believer of introducing my birds this way.

I am new to silkies. I have 2 just over 4 months old. They are still so tiny! Does anyone have any photos of one standing next to a standard chicken so I can get an idea of how big they get? How old are they when they reach full size? I am terrified they aren't getting enough food or something, lol. There are 2 feeders in the run though so they don't have to compete with the big girls. They are on scratch and peck grower, which I am not sure about because of all the powdery supplements mixed with the grains. The powdery stuff clogs the feeder and I don't know if they are getting any of the supplements. Argh. I want to feed organic especially to my egg layers but it is hard to find! Can I feed everyone including the laying hens starter? I found organic manna pro starter at my feed store. This way the little silkies get a higher protein feed. Of course I always provide oyster shell free choice.
