I didn't pull it and put medicine on it again yet just set it in the food dish it wasn't interested and went back under Moma hen. I think it's going to be awhile before the feathers all fluff out. One of the other eggs under her keeps sticking to her I think it got some goo on it from the first one hatching. I have to keep a eye on it. Ugh

Thank goodness!
Could you try washing it with warm water? How close is it to hatching? Any peeping?

Should hatch anytime now, not hearing any peeping may have already lost it. I was afraid to wash it. It stuck to her and dropped of in the sand out of the nest and was kind of cool when I found it and I have unstuck it from her a couple times now. I will be surprised if it hatches.
Very happy to see the little chick still with us this morning. :)

ROFL this happened to me with turkeys. I wanted some big strutting toms and out of 4 babies got all hens! Lol

We got 4 babies from the feed store and all of them were toms. We just ended up with so many boys. Out of the 20 chicks we got only 7 were hens!

We are hoping for better odds when we go get silkie babies on FRIDAY!

My run in with straight run silkies is usually 50/50 or close to it. Had one good year and ordered 50 straight run silkies and got 4 roos! I was so happy I couldn't believe it.

Even if we get all roos my daugther will keep them. The silkie was hand picked by her and the only one she picked out of all the chicks we got.

We are getting these little ones to replace her silkie (my profile pic) and the only silkie we had. A coon got him/her. We don't know what sex it was but were leaning more towards hen.
