Silkie thread!

I think you have a cockerel and then two pullets. I love the marking on the second one. What color silkie is it?

They are splash silkies

I think the top one is a cockerel based on the amount of comb showing at this age. I love the middle one - regardless of gender - I can't see any comb on the 2nd. & 3rd. photos (must be there somewhere) so I would hope they are pullets.

When do Silkies usually start laying eggs? My Silkie is 31 weeks old and still no eggs! Not even squatting!
Shouldn't she be starting soon?

Look around to see if there are hidden nests that she might be laying in. Otherwise I have heard of owners who have had Silkies that never layed an egg in their life. With Silkies there is no set age at which they start laying. It can be as early as 5-1/2 months or as late as 13 months. Let us know how it turns out for your little girl.

Some guys I've hatched this past year... I just let my different colored birds mingle, so I don't get many 'standards' lol!

This guy is actually blue, but appears more black in the image. Would you call him something like Birchen?

I've hatched a few similar to this one. I guess you'd say he's sort of Colombian colored?? Also, not sure why he's non-bearded... all my birds are beardies.

I wish I could get a better grasp on understanding genetics, but when I try it just makes my head spin! 6_9

I also have some pullets that are lavender with salmony wings and shoulders, and darker blue crests! They were marked up like really pale partridge as chicks, so it's been neat seeing how they have changed! I'll try to get a couple of pics when the weather clears back up. It's been rainy here this weekend.

Awe! I have some silkie chicks from my silkies but mine are all white! I really want a splash!
