people think chickens are dumb, I completly disagree,(I'm not saying you thought they were before you figured out what your chicken was doing....you obviously don't think that and took the time to help her search, a lot of people would have just got frustrated and either left her out of caught her and put her up with out caring) but her behavior proves chickens are smart in their own way and I believe they have emotions and feelings...thank you for being so kind to her and helping her search!
Ok, I have another question. TSC also had the Wazine you had mentioned.
Which one would be more effective and work faster?
I know the Strike III gets mixed with food and the Wazine is diluted in water, so I wondered if it might be more effective.
You say I don't have to withhold eggs with the Strike III, but should I use the Wazine instead and if so, should I withhold if I do?
By the way, yesterday evening I went to put the boys up in the coop and noticed one of the siblings from the one that died was still wandering around in the run.
It was past her bedtime and everyone else was in the coop, so I checked to see what was the matter.
I quickly realized that she was looking for her sister and so I held a flashlight up to help her see.
She went from one end of the run to the other sort of frantically and she was looking high and low until she realized she wasn't there and she gave up, looked sort of dejected and slowly went up the ramp into the coop.
It just broke my heart and I think I gained a better understanding and a new found respect for chickens.
I didn't realize they were capable of missing one of their own, but I'm still new to this and learning.
Not chickens but I had a duck die of depression once because its mate died. (My ducks mate for life) It was pretty sad.

Do you have ahead light on them or a source of warmth? I agree looks like a white, a black and 2 buffs, the lighter buff might go white. I keep my chicks on start and grow till I get my first egg from them, my starter feed has grower feed I. It too, when I get my first egg or crow I start mixing feed like above post and wean them off start and grow. Just a side note I keep s just the lighting or warmer source as I watch the chicks and they tell me the temp they like it as they grow, mine do not go outside or off the light or warmer source till they are completly feathered. Nc weather us so up and down this time of year I font risk it

We lost a horse last week and all of the horses in the surrounding paddocks watch on quietly whilst we buried him. Very calm and respectful.
Hi guys! I was told I should come over to this thread and share pics of my babies! I also have some questions. I'm a brand new silkie owner so I wanna make sure everything is right since not everything you read on the Internet is right.
What kind of silkies do I have?
How old Are they? I forgot to ask when I got them cause I was so excited!
When can I put them outside? I live in AZ and the highest temp right now is 88 F.
They're getting chick starter food right now. When should they stop this food?
Thanks!!!
