We were thinking of hatching eggs with an incubator, and I just adore silkies, and I only have one, so I would want to hatch them.
1. Are silkies harder to hatch then other chicks? Should a beginner like me start with something more basic?
2. Are there any tips for hatching silkies or eggs in general?
Thank you!
Hi. Silkies are easier to catch than other chicks. Silkies are fine to start with. Hatching in general? I think the most important in hatching is to keep the temperature steady as a rock. Some people have used water balloons to help stabilize the temperature. I like my humidity around 30% the first 18 days and around 70% the last 3 days. But my last batch the humidity was not where I wanted it due to the humidity in my home , but all 11 hatched but 1. Always try to keep the big end a bit higher, the pointy end a bit lower. I'm sure others can load you up with more advice. But silkies are fun! Important!!!!! Grind up their crumbles for a few weeks.
