Silkie thread!

Hey, my eggs are hatching in my incubator and the hatchin chicks are crawling all over the hatching eggs. Is that ok? Also, one chick's butt looks bloated. Is that ok?

Yep. A pro once told me that the chicks in there walking on the hatching eggs will get everyone motivated to come out. I don't know if that is true but it helped calm me down. LOL. The bloated butt baby, it is ok. It depends on how much yolk they had to ingest right before hatching. If that one had a lot it would look bigger. Congratulations on the hatch.

help! I have a baby duccle and it isn't lookjng good. It looks like it's having a hard time breathing and its wings are droopy. Ik he isn't a silkie but this is popular thread. What do i do!?!? I got 15 babies from ideal poultry so idk if the travel took a toll on him/her ??

Is it pooping? Will it drink? Is it eating? How old is it? Some chicks simply don't make it. I would give it some sav-a-chick.

It's 3 days old, I haven't noticed it pooping but it had drank. It doesn't have pasty butt and it's eating. We gave the baby a drop of nutri-drench.

Maybe the chick just had a rougher start than the others. Just be sure the others don't trample him, till he builds strength.

eating and drinking are very good signs.

I have 8 pullets right now. 2 BA, 2 EE, 2 White Marans, and 2 Salmon Faverolles. I want to get a rooster next spring and thinking about silkies because I heard they are a more docile, quieter rooster. Any truth to that?

His mouth is open, it looks like he can't breathe. We think it's open mouth disease. So idk what to do. Have it ever had this happen?
